Mark Armitage has spent the last 5 years as COO and President US of The CarbonNeutral Company, one of the world’s leading companies operating in the carbon management and carbon offsetting sector.

The CarbonNeutral Company counts such leaders as Barclays, BSkyB (a UK subsidiary of Newscorp) and WPP on its client list and has been actively involved in setting the quality agenda for carbon management and carbon credit generation for over 10 years. As early pioneers in this field in both European and US markets Armitage has real experience and insight in to the drivers and levers for corporate action on carbon emissions and the complexities and workings of carbon credit generation.

Now an independent consultant Armitage is combining his 5 years of climate change consultancy knowledge with his 20 years of management and leadership experience gained in leading companies such as British Airways, Granada Media Group and Avis to help corporations make informed choices and trade offs around corporate strategy and sustainability.

Mark was Group Marketing and Strategy Director at NBrown a leading home shopping company. He also spent 5 years as Commercial Director of a £400M high street retail operation within the Granada Group responsible for sales, merchandising, strategic partnerships, customer acquisition and retention. In 2000 Granada retail merged with its key competitor, Radio Rentals, following outstanding market sector performance, with Mark taking the Commercial Director position on the Board of the newly formed company.

Prior to this and still within the Granada Group Mark spent 3 years on the Board of a travel company and was instrumental in the rapid and impressive turnaround which paved the way for an eventual sale of a respected but underperforming travel division.

Mark has also worked at Trusthouse Forte where as Marketing Director, Forte Grand, he launched the branded operation in the Middle East. He began his career at British Airways, where he spent five years, predominantly focused on international business development.
